In Hebrew, Beth-El means “house of God.” We at Beth-El believe in providing a place (or shelter) for our farm working community where they can find refuge from the storms of life. While we do not offer housing, Beth-El supports farmworkers and their families through education, hunger relief, and spiritual encouragement initiatives.

We were founded by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church (CPC) in 1976 in the neighboring town of Ruskin. CPC and the Presbytery of Southwest Florida established a covenant in support of Beth-El. Around the time of the reunion of the northern and southern churches in 1983, the PC(USA) was formed. When the Presbytery of Southwest Florida geographically divided in the early 1990s, it formed the presbyteries of Peace River and Tampa Bay. We are now a tri-union mission, in covenant with CPC and the presbyteries of Peace River and Tampa Bay.

In a year, we serve approximately 80,000 people. Monthly numbers fluctuate with the seasons.

Yes, but not in the traditional sense as defined by the Book of Order. We have a worshiping community led by our ordained minister, who also pastors them in their personal needs. A worshiping community of farmworkers and their families is not able to financially support an organized church. The sanctuary is located in our main building.

We are nothing without your prayers. Please add Beth-El to your daily prayer list. Financial support may be given through the presbyteries and CPC by designating an offering to Beth-El. Individuals may also donate gift cards—preferably from local retailers such as Walmart, CVS, and Home Depot—as well as monetary contributions. Donations of clothing, school supplies, and other items are also accepted. Please call before gathering items.

Since 1976, Beth-El has been serving Hispanic farmworkers and their extended families. Through both physical and spiritual outreach, Beth-El continues to be a vital resource for families striving to improve their lives. Your support touches countless lives and helps sustain this important ministry.
