How Your Church or Group Can Get Involved This Summer

When it comes to making a difference, it doesn’t take a huge budget or a lot of time—it just takes heart. At Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, we believe real change happens when communities come together. That’s why this summer, we’re inviting churches, youth groups, businesses, and community clubs to be part of the mission to support farmworker families in simple, powerful ways.

Whether you have three people or thirty, there’s something your group can do to help.

3 Ways to Help in Under 3 Hours

  1. Host a Donation Drive
     Gather essential items from our Summer Wish List like:
  • UV-protective shirts, gloves, socks

  • Non-perishable food (Maseca, rice, beans, corn oil)

  • Paper goods and laundry detergent

Set up a drop-off spot at your church or office, spread the word for a week or two, and deliver items to Beth-El. It’s a hands-on way to get everyone involved—and every item makes a difference.

  1. Sponsor Safety Kits
     Farmworkers spend hours under the blazing sun without proper protection. Your group can sponsor kits filled with:
  • UV shirts

  • Work gloves

  • Cooling bandanas

  • Durable socks

Each kit costs about what you’d spend on a few coffees—but it could help prevent heat exhaustion or injury. Challenge your group to sponsor 10 kits and write encouraging notes to include with each one!

  1. Sign Up for a Farm Visit this Fall
     Join Jesús, our outreach coordinator, for a “Hope on the Move” visit to deliver donations directly to farmworkers and connect with families in the field.
     It’s more than a volunteer day—it’s a chance to listen, learn, and experience what food justice looks like up close.

No special skills required—just a willing heart.
